About the event
Join us for a winter hike into the canyon at Smith Rock State Park. We will start with free coffee (BYOM*) while supplies last, then head down into the canyon and follow the Canyon Trail along the Crooked River. Along the way, we’ll pass a pine tree with a bald eagle nest before the trail climbs onto a ridge with views of the river as it bends south. Walk as far as you like and turn around whenever you’re ready.
Bring water (the high desert dries you out, even in winter), snacks, sturdy shoes, and warm layers. There is no food for sale in the park.
There is no pressure to do the entire hike. All are welcome. Come for coffee, walk down to the river, or go the full distance. The goal is not performance. It is to enjoy the day, get outside, move your body, and spend time…
